Soon you’ll be ready to reap the rewards of supply chain demand. Surplus merchandise will be on sale at significant discounts to buyers. Experts suggest shopping at low-cost retailers for household items and fashion needs.
An off-price retailer is a store that sells merchandise at discounted prices. Savings are typically 60-65% on average for consumers, reaching up to 90% off the original price of similar products in brand stores.
According to Lorraine Hutchinson, research analyst for Bank of America Securities, regarding the supply chain fiasco, off-price retailers will gain market share. She says this will result in deals and sales for shoppers.
“And that’s where they get the best deals,” Hutchinson said in an interview on “The Exchange” Going through msn. “What we can expect in the year for low prices is that they’ll start to see some of those high supply chain costs towards the back half.”
Expect to see more designer goods, albeit outdated by 2-3 seasons, at low-cost retailers. “But at the same time, they will benefit from the great deals on big-brand products from this responsible product outside of ports,” Hutchinson said. “I think this creates a very nice selling opportunity and drives expansion and market share gains for this particular retail sub-sector.”
In recent weeks, shoppers have bought clothes and other goods that arrived late. This is when the backlog of shipping container inventory is still unloaded at ports.
According to the wall street journal, discount stores are packed thanks to shipping delays. Executives say supply chain strains have left buyers with plenty of goods available.
While all non-retail stores are known for their great deals, bargain hunters can attest that having a store for every savings is best. Kendal Perez, former savings expert at Coupon Sherpa, agrees. “Handbags, shoes, sunglasses, hair products and fragrances are among the core values of TJ Maxx and Ross,” Perez says in a Go bank rates interview. “Kitchen utensils, linens, decorative pillows and accessories are [also] best values for Ross and TJ Maxx.”
Stores to shop
When it comes to shopping at discount retailers, you need a game plan. For example, if you’re looking for luxury goods up to 92% off, the TJX family, which includes TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and its UK counterpart, TK Maxx–are the places to shop. They also carry the same products you would see at Macy’s and Nordstrom such as Gucci, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein. Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off 5th offer designer brands for less. The experts in off-price retail stores planning to have the largest inventory of designer merchandise at deep discounts are TJX, Ross and Burlington stores. Discount retailers like Kohl’s, DSW and Neiman Marcus Last Call are great for fashions like shoes, handbags and accessories.
