The six mid-range designer brands I’m buying this fall / winter

  • Marie Claire is supported by her audience. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a commission on some of the items you choose to purchase.

  • I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, it’s all about mid-range designer brands right now. Of course, there will always be room for Gucci and Saint Laurent.

But the rise of labels like STAUD and Ganni proves that there is a market for brands that are a little more expensive and more special than the mainstream, but which you can still afford without saving for six months.

With that in mind, here are six mid-priced designers I’m excited about for the AW18, shared by Browns, all priced at around £ 200-400.

    MATERIAL (launch soon)

It is a Georgian fashion collective established in 2012 on the foundations of Fashion House Materia, one of the largest textile producers in the USSR, which dates back to 1949, and focuses on the new generation of talent from local design. Currently, the designers are Lado Bokuchava and Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili.

    Situationist

Shop Now: Situationist Strapless Fitted Wool Dress for £ 490 from Browns

This brand from Irakli Rusadze is one of the few Georgian labels to have enjoyed international success. National identity is a very important reference for the brand: its suit is strong, and other made-to-measure pieces such as leather coats have a singular vintage feel. Their visual language is sometimes bold, dark, abstract, ambiguous and is not just documenting the clothes, but evoking a certain emotion, desire or experience.

    By Timo

Shop Now: By Timo Floral Print & English Embroidery Mini Dress for £ 190 from Browns

Created by Tine Mollatt in 2004, By Timo offers romantic bohemian styles made with integrity. Exclusive to Browns, there are 8 gorgeous styles to choose from, bringing modern romance to timeless craftsmanship.

    Classic Stockings

Buy Now: Classic Double Breasted One Button Blazer for £ 325 at Browns

Known for its clean and classic designs, unique materials and youthful energy, Low Classic is a Korean brand of women’s clothing, launched in 2009 by Lee Myungshin, Hwang Hyng-ji and Park Jin-seon. It is sophisticated and original, easy to style and above all accessible. Designed for confident people who want something easy to wear. Today, the label is huge across Asia but is only sold in two locations in the United States, and Browns is the number one destination in Europe.

    Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili (launch soon)

One of the signatories of the Materiel fashion collective, this is his first personal collection, launched exclusively at Browns. Its iconic details include minimalist shapes and lines, unexpected cutout details, and a bold use of color.

    CAP

Buy Now: Cap Morgane Chunky Knit Sweater for £ 380 from Browns

CAP is an Amsterdam-based knitwear brand that works with colored yarns to develop a unique RTW offering through superior shape, fit and workmanship.
